Day 1: Arrive in Iceland and Visit the Blue Lagoon

Welcome to Iceland! Upon arrival, you’ll jump straight into one of Iceland’s top highlights: the Blue Lagoon. Set in a lava field on the Reykjanes Peninsula, the warm geothermal water is rich in mineral salts, silica, and blue-green algae, known for their soothing and skin-nourishing qualities. Enjoy a relaxing soak with access to a towel, a silica mud mask, and a drink of your choice, making an easy, fun way for the whole family to unwind after the flight.

After your visit, continue to your hotel in Reykjavík and have the rest of the day to unwind and explore at your leisure.

Accommodations: Reykjavík Residence, 4 nights

Reykjavík Residence operates as a collection of historic downtown buildings offering apartment-style suites and studios, from economy studios to multi-bedroom apartments, giving guests the flexibility of self-catering accommodations with modern comforts. All units include a kitchenette, flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, and sound-proofing; larger apartments and suites feature separate living and dining areas and can accommodate up to six guests. The hotel’s central location places guests within easy walking distance of Reykjavík’s main restaurants, shops, historic streets and city landmarks.

Day 2: Whale Watching, Wildlife, and Reykjavík Tour

Begin the day with a whale-watching tour from Reykjavík’s downtown harbor. Iceland is considered one of the best places in the world to spot marine life, and the bay is home to minke whales, humpbacks, white-beaked dolphins, and harbor porpoises. The surrounding birdlife is equally impressive, with puffins, gannets, guillemots, and Arctic terns often seen feeding along the water.

After returning to shore, head up the tower of Hallgrímskirkja for panoramic views across the city and surrounding mountains. Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Reykjavík at your own pace, whether wandering through shops, visiting museums, or enjoying one of the city’s many cafés.

Accommodations: Reykjavík Residence, 4 nights

*Includes: Breakfast

Day 3: The Golden Circle

Set out on a small-group tour of the Golden Circle, Iceland’s most famous route, known for its dramatic landscapes and fascinating history. Begin at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Iceland’s first parliament met in 930 A.D. Here you can walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates and visit the nearby Öxarárfoss waterfall.

Continue to Efstidalur Farm for homemade organic ice cream and a chance to meet some of the resident farm animals. Then explore the Geysir geothermal area, where Strokkur erupts every few minutes, before heading to Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most powerful waterfalls.

Lunch is enjoyed at Friðheimar, a tomato farm offering a fun and memorable greenhouse dining experience. End the day at Kerið, a colorful volcanic crater lake with striking red slopes and calm blue water, before returning to Reykjavik in the late afternoon.

Accommodations: Reykjavík Residence, 4 nights

*Includes: Breakfast

Day 4: Lava Tunnels and Iceland Exploration

Begin the day by exploring Raufarhólshellir, one of Iceland’s longest and most accessible lava tunnels, located just 30 minutes from Reykjavík. Walk through the cave with a guide and see the colorful rock formations left behind by ancient volcanic eruptions, offering a fascinating experience for both adults and children.

Next, visit the Icelandic Lava Show, where molten lava is poured into the room, recreating the intensity of a volcanic eruption. You’ll be able to see, hear, and feel the heat up close, all in a safe and controlled setting.

In the afternoon, head to FlyOver Iceland, a 5D flight simulation that uses motion seats, wind, mist, and scents to create the sensation of flying across the country. Suspended with your feet dangling, you’ll glide over glaciers, volcanoes, and waterfalls.

Return to Reykjavík for the evening, with time to relax or explore the city on your own.

Accommodations: Reykjavík Residence, 4 nights

*Includes: Breakfast

Day 5: Waterfalls, Black-Sand Beaches, and an ATV Adventure

Say goodbye to Reykjavik and travel along Iceland’s South Coast on a private tour as you make your way to Hotel Kría. This region is known for its dramatic contrasts: black lava beaches, powerful waterfalls, rugged cliffs, and glacier tongues stretching down from the highlands. With the Atlantic Ocean to the south and ice caps rising to the north, the scenery changes constantly, making this one of Iceland’s most rewarding road journeys.

Stop at Reynisfjara, the famous black-sand beach, where basalt columns and the offshore Reynisdrangar sea stacks rise from the ocean. Continue to the coastal village of Vík í Mýrdal, with its hilltop church overlooking the shoreline, and nearby Dyrhólaey, a towering rock arch that also serves as a bird nesting area in summer. Along the route, visit Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, two of Iceland’s most impressive waterfalls, with the option to climb the staircase beside Skógafoss for elevated views.

Later, from a basecamp near the edge of Mýrdalsjökull glacier, set out on an ATV adventure across black lava sands shaped by past glacial floods from the Katla volcano. Cross shallow rivers, take in wide coastal views, and stop at the well-known plane wreck, a striking remnant of Iceland’s wartime history.

Accommodations: Hótel Kría, 2 nights

Hótel Kría is a contemporary hotel located in the village of Vík on Iceland’s south coast, framed by volcanic cliffs and close to Reynisfjara’s black-sand beach. The property features modern rooms and suites with clean Nordic design, large windows, and views of the mountains or surrounding fields. Facilities include an elegant restaurant and bar, a glass-enclosed lounge, and a games room. The hotel’s position at the base of Vík’s dramatic cliffs places guests within easy reach of the region’s iconic coastal scenery.

*Includes: Breakfast

Day 6: Glacier Hike and Horseback Riding

Set out on a scenic super-jeep drive lasting 30–60 minutes to a remote area of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Upon arrival, you’ll be fitted with helmets, headlamps, and crampons before your guide provides a safety briefing and overview of the glacier environment. From there, take a short guided hike across the ice toward a natural ice cave. The route and cave change throughout the season as the glacier shifts, making each visit unique. You’ll have plenty of time to explore, learn about the ice formations, and take photos.

In the afternoon, enjoy an easy horseback ride along the black sands of Vík. Icelandic horses are calm, sure-footed, and well suited to riders of all levels, making this a relaxed and memorable way for the whole family to experience the coastline and surrounding scenery.

Accommodations: Hótel Kría, 2 nights

*Includes: Breakfast

Day 7: Departure

Say goodbye to Iceland and head back to the airport to catch your departing flight.
